Physical Education at Garfield

“A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.” National Curriculum.

At Garfield, PE plays an important role in the curriculum.

Each class, from Early Years to Year 6, receives two hours of high quality PE each week.

The children are taught a range of skills from Dance and Gymnastics to Athletics and Outdoor and Adventurous Activities. They are also able to take part in a number of games including netball, football, cricket and rounders.

Garfield also offers a range of after school clubs throughout the year. These include multi-sports, football, tag rugby and athletics.

There are also opportunities for children to attend events arranged by the Enfield PE team in gymnastics, athletics and cultural dance.

These opportunities will continue to be provided to all children at Garfield.
