Headteacher’s Welcome

Message from Mr Joyce

Dear Parents, Carers and Visitors,

I am delighted to welcome you to Garfield Primary School. As the new Headteacher of Garfield Primary, I am truly privileged to lead such an amazing school. I am thrilled you have chosen to find out more about us, and my hope is that you will find our website informative and that the warmth, kindness and ambition that we have for everyone in our community shines through.

We always enjoy welcoming new pupils to join our school and since our redevelopment in 2016, we have the space and facilities to increase our size and move from a 2 form to a 3 form entry primary school. Our last Ofsted Inspection in March 2019 confirmed again that we are a ‘good’ school in all categories. We are now well on our journey to becoming ‘outstanding’ as we have a wonderful team of experienced leaders, governors and staff ready to do everything we can to ensure our pupils are happy, hard-working and well-behaved. We have the highest expectations for everyone; ourselves, the pupils, parents and all those that provide a service for us. Our home school agreement will give you a flavour of this. We want everyone in our community to be as proud of Garfield Primary School as we are.

At Garfield, our children enjoy a rich and broad curriculum which is enhanced by an array of inspiring learning experiences outside the classroom to strengthen their learning and provide them with that capital culture that all children deserve and need before they move to secondary school and beyond. We are also extremely proud of our top class learning facilities which include: a school library, our new ICT suite, a fully-stocked Music room, our Nurture room, a Calm room, a fully equipped Food Technology suite, a large concert hall as well as large outdoor grounds with gardening facilities, nature corners, sports areas, climbing walls, adventure playgrounds and, finally, quiet seating areas for children to simply relax in the shade and chat with friends.

Our highly dedicated, professional staff encourage our children to be confident independent learners and speakers. We want our children to understand the importance of working hard, persevering and always trying your best. We understand that success is infectious, it makes us want to do more to learn more and builds confidence and self-esteem, preparing us for the next stage in life. We believe that Garfield Primary offers our pupils the very best educational opportunities within an inspirational learning environment.

We are immensely proud to be a multi-cultural and multi-faith school. Our vision and values are integral to all we do at Garfield. You can read them here to gain a better understanding of what we stand for.

On behalf of my staff and governors, I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our website. However, if you would like to see more of Garfield, we warmly welcome prospective parents to come and pay a visit to our school. This can be arranged by contacting the school office. Please feel free to do so – I look forward to seeing you.

Mr David Joyce
